Artist Statement: Donna Sadler

I am an Artist and Illustrator living in Melbourne, Australia. I am currently studying a Diploma of Illustration at NMIT and have previously studied a Diploma of Art & Design at London Metropolitan University completed in 2008.
I work with techniques including pen, marker, pencil and ink and I like to explore collage techniques.
My work often branches into painting using gouache, acrylic and watercolour. I like to document places in time and create a sense of nostalgia within my works, therefore I have a strong emphasis on photography within my research and final art pieces.
My work is Bold, minimal, experimental and often print making nd pattern based in style.
I have recently exhibited in Berlin at BHind Gallery -St Gaudy cafĂ© in January. I have also exhibitied in Melbourne at ‘The Saloon’ in Carlton,  ‘Blue Tile Lounge’ & ‘HOW NOW gallery’ in Fitzroy and Egg Gallery in Collingwood.

Artist Statement: Ben Pearmain

My name is Ben Pearmain and I am a Diploma of illustration student at NMIT, Preston. I have spent my life honing my own style, and now I am developing the technical skills to produce outstanding illustrations in traditional media and digital art. I was born in London and spent my childhood in Wellington and Perth before moving to Melbourne. I am currently working for LtM, an events management firm, as a designer. I am also co-creator of an online cartoon series called Circle Jerk, which was recently screened at the Melbourne International Animation Festival.

Artist Statement: Laura Wood

Laura Wood is an emerging illustrator currently living in Melbourne.
She was born and raised in Italy and at the age of 24, after completing a Bachelor of Cinema and Multimedia, she decided to follow the little voice in her head and move to Australia. It is amongst eucalyptus trees that she started dedicating all her energy to illustration. At the moment she is attending a Diploma of Illustration at NMIT. When she is not trying to become a full time illustrator she makes books for a living, drinks tea, watches movies and spends time with the people she loves. She also tries to be nice and friendly everyday.

Progress Report 13/09

Hey everyone.

Well the class has been working really hard at getting this exhibition off the ground. We have decided on a venue, the Black Cat on Brunswick Street!  A swanky, hipster bar/cafe where you are bound to see a few 'Melbourne' characters!

We are proud to announce that we will be running the exhibition from the 9th to the 27th of November!

We are also happy to tell you all about our new friend Carl at Regent Gallery who is kindly helping us out with printing and mounting costs, after all we are starving art students!!! Make sure you check him out for all your printing, mounting and framing needs!
Thats all we have for you this week, but stay tuned for more updates on the way. Keep an eye out for artist profiles and maybe a garage sale!
